Color Analysis

Have you ever walked into your favorite clothing store, only to stand there and wonder “where do I start”?  Have you ever looked at the latest nail polish colors and not have a clue which one is the best color for you?  How do you tell if “ChicaGo Get A Manicure” is a color that will look great on you?  If one of these questions is something you have asked yourself, then you probably need to consider having a color analysis.  Clothing is expensive, so why not invest in garments that are in your color group?

First, let me start by saying that color is subjective.  Everyone identifies color differently.  I might identify a sweater as fuschia, you may say that it is hot pink.  However, it is possible to categorize colors as warm, cool or neutral.  The same is true about an individual’s skin tone, it will be warm, cool or neutral.

Several years ago I had my picture taken at the DMV for my driver’s license.  It was one of the best pictures I had ever taken, and I got comments on it all the time.  Keep in mind, that this was taken by an employ of the DMV, not a professional.  So what made this picture better than most?  It was because I was wearing colors that were in my color palette, but I didn’t know it at the time.

Everyone can wear red; however, everyone can not wear the same shade of red.  Everyone can wear white; however, brillant white is the hardest shade of white for most people to wear.  Why not find out what your best shade of white is and see how fabulous you can look!  Your shade of white will be one of your best light neutrals, and can rescue those hard-to-wear colored garments that are already in your closet.

If you are interested in knowing what your best colors are, get in touch with me and we will set up a color consultation that will be all about how to make you look fabulous.  You will be pleasantly surprised how the colors in your palette coordinate with each other; and how many outfits you can create because everything goes together.  You will probably also discover some great color combinations that you have never before considered; but they will be fabulous on you!

Here is what one of my clients had to say a few months after her color consultation:

The results of my color analysis have been invaluable as a step in the process of purchasing clothing. I have bought a few items since then, namely a deep rose leather handbag, a grayed navy wool walker coat, and a muted navy cocktail dress. I have also avoided many purchases that I would have regretted because they would not have worked with my coloring or my other pieces. I cleaned out my closet and even though I am down to (for winter) 3 skirts, 3 dresses, 4 pairs of pants, and 10 or so blouses and sweaters, I feel as though I have more outfits than ever because nearly everything coordinates. In summary, I am very pleased with how much my wardrobe and dressing manner has improved since our consultation! Thank you very much for your help.

Here is what I will do:

  • Identify your best colors.
  • Give you guidelines on how to wear colors that are not your best.  Not everyone can purge their existing wardrobe of everything that is not in their color palette; this can be expensive, and I get that.  Also, some of you are required to wear certain colors in your work environment; which are not always the most flattering.  There are ways of making you look better even though the color isn’t “you”.
  • Should you choose to purchase a color fan/wallet, you will get fabric swatches; not laminated paint chips.
  • Your fan/wallet will also include some great color combinations for different types of events that you may attend.
  • Identify your best colors for jewelry, glass frames, mascara and lipstick.

Here is what I will not do:

  • Tell you to arrive with no make-up.  I will, however, ask you to remove your lip color at the beginning of your analysis.
  • Try and get you to wear a color you absolutely hate.  If you tell me that you don’t like yellow, I am not going to insist that you consider wearing it.  If there is a shade of yellow that works with your coloring, I will show it to you; but, it is up to you rather or not you decide to wear it.
  • I will not tell you to change the color of your hair.  If you ask me for my opinion, I will give you some guidelines that you might consider.

I wish that I had taken the time to have a color analysis done on myself years ago.  I would have saved so much time and money.  If you want to look fabulous and stop wasting precious time and hard-earned money on garments that make you look less-than-great, get in touch with me and set up an appointment that is “all about you”.
